The Work of Being Positive
Being positive is hard work.
For some of us, at least. (I’m in that category).
Positivity or negativity are embedded early within us from our environments.
I’ve had to work hard to become more positive, and while I’ve seen huge improvement, I still have a long way to go.
Here are 3 things that have helped me become more positive.
1/ Watch your self-talk
I was more negative than I knew. Once I began paying attention to it, I was embarrassed — but it helped me begin stopping myself before I got too deeply into negativity. I could course-correct toward positivity.
2/ Practice gratitude
I write down 5 things I’m grateful for every night. I write 5 things because I need to dive a little deeper to develop the habit of gratitude. Developing gratitude cultivates a mind that is ready to be positive.
3/ Use morning and evening affirmations
Every morning, I meditate on affirmations like, “I am a positive person,” or, “I am an example of positivity for my family.” These affirmations help me set an intention for my day to be more positive.
Being positive requires work. Are you ready to do it?
